Sandwich Making For Shelters & August DCM

On August 29, Division 4 North DCM was to be held at a park nearby. Unfortunately due to the occupation, the DCM was move to mile Square Park. It took place at Mile Square Park where it was shared with Division 4 West. I came a bit late due to ride issue, but I was able to see the recognition of the month. After DCM we separated the tables and distributed the materials evenly. All the breads was to be donated to the Long Beach Rescue Mission for Homeless. I wanted to thank you Target for donating a $5o gift card. I was able to purchase 20 loaves of bread, 8 large bottle of Jelly and 5 peanut butter jars. I also bought extra on top of that. It was a little hot and due to the time frame, we were able to make a total of 800 sandwiches

Backpacks For Success (Part 2)

Backpacks for Success part 2 was a long and hardworking event! I had previously attended the first session for this event and we continued to work from where we left off. We were back at it with assembling backpacks filled with supplies to help those that aren’t able to purchase these items on their own. It was wonderful to see so many volunteers working together and creating these backpacks. Each backpack consisted of the usual supplies needed to be successful at school. A binder, notebooks, writing utensils and a warm heart from a volunteer that helped create it. Education is greatly important and you can’t start a day of school without the right supplies! As a current high school student, the smallest things like getting supplies or a new backpack for school was never a problem for me. Therefore, it was great to know that I helped students in great need!

Child Abuse Prevention: Summer Celebration

On August 7 , 2015 the Child Abuse Prevention Summer celebration was going on at the Santa Ana Zoo. When I arrived I was so ready to help out. First we had to get things off people's car and put them where their booths were at. Although it was confusing at first to find where their booths were at, it was pretty fun, it felt like a scavenger hunt. Afterwards we helped set up some booths the one I helped out was from Chase and they were giving out school supplies. It was so cute when the little kids came because they would just point to what they want and they were excited to get new things. Once the event was coming to an end we started to clean up and help out pack things back up and put them into the cars. Overall the event was great I really enjoyed it and the one who was in charge of the event let us go in the zoo afterwards, which was so kind of her to do.

OC Fair 5K Run

On August 9th,2015, we were able to attend the OC Fair 5k and Fun Run early in the morning. Through this event, we were able to motivate other runners and walkers to successfully finish the 5k. It was close to 5 a.m. when we all arrived safely at the event site. After signing in, we had spare time to bond and socialize with others from other schools. We were then assigned jobs to cheer on all runners or walkers. Their smiling faces as they hear the motivational cheers really brightens up my day. More and more participants were running until they made it to the finish line. I positively screamed encouraging lines and signaled the direction in which the runners were to follow. After this, we helped clean up the materials that were used and successfully finished our tasks. It was a very fun experience for me and I will anticipate it until next year!

OC Food Bank

OC Food Bank collaboration with Rancho’s Key Club was an amazing experience. Not only did I gain a couple of hours, but it was an open opportunity to socialize with other members and to build relationships. At the OC Food bank, we basically assembled boxes and packed cereal into them which was difficult, but left us feeling very accomplished at the end. At this event, I was able to meet new people that I would normally be unable to, which I really appreciated. I knew this event was going to be so exciting that I could not sleep the day before. Because of its great success, I would definitely attend another one soon.
